Cremona is the “capital city “ of nougat and during the 9 days of the festival the Old Town is full of booths offering nougat prepared in many recipes, from ice cream to savoury dishes.
The focus will be of course the enhancement of nougat, as the festival is attended by nougat and chocolate producers coming from all over Italy, with about 250 shows, tastings and cultural events.
The highlights of the festival that should not be missed are the traditional re-enactment of the wedding between Francesco Sforza and Bianca Maria Visconti (a significant history event for Milano as it marked the passage from the Visconti dynasty to the Sforza one), the construction of nougat giants and the Golden Nougat.
